Finnegan’s World is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data with care and transparency. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

What Information We Collect

 

Soft play, café and party bookings

When you book a session, party, or sign up to our newsletter, we may collect your full name, email address, and mobile number. We use this to manage your booking, send confirmation and reminders, and (if you’ve opted in) keep you updated with news and offers.

We may also collect your child’s date of birth to send age-relevant updates and birthday offers, and emergency contact details and health or dietary information (such as allergies or medical needs) where your child is attending without a parent or guardian present.

Nursery waiting list and enrolment

When you join our nursery waiting list or complete an enrolment enquiry form, we collect your name, contact details, your child’s name, date of birth, and the age they will be on 1 September of the relevant year. We also ask how you heard about us. We use this information solely to manage our waiting list and contact you when enrolment opens.

 

When a child is formally enrolled in the nursery, we collect a wider range of information necessary to provide a safe, high-quality early years education. This includes:

  • Child’s full name, date of birth, address and emergency contacts

  • Health information including medical conditions, allergies, dietary requirements and any medication your child takes

  • Details of your child’s development and learning needs

  • EYFS observation notes and learning records kept by your child’s key person

  • Funded hours eligibility information (where applicable)

  • Consent for photography and video, where images may be used in your child’s learning journal or, with separate explicit consent, in our marketing materials

 

We collect this information because it is necessary to fulfil our contract with you as a nursery provider, to comply with our legal obligations under the EYFS statutory framework, and to keep your child safe.

 

Data Sharing

  • We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

  • For nursery families, we may share relevant information with:

  • Ofsted, in the course of an inspection or in response to a legal requirement

  • Your local authority, in relation to funded hours or any safeguarding matter

  • Other early years settings or schools, where you have requested a transfer of your child’s learning records

  • Healthcare professionals or emergency services, where we believe it is necessary to protect your child’s health or safety

  • In all cases, we share only the minimum information necessary.

 

How Long We Keep Your Data​

  • Newsletter contact details: Until you unsubscribe

  • Booking and emergency contact details (soft play/parties): Up to 12 months

  • Child’s date of birth (soft play/parties): Up to 5 years

  • Health or dietary notes for unaccompanied children (soft play/parties): Up to 1 month after the session

  • Nursery waiting list data: Until the waiting list closes or you ask to be removed

  • Nursery enrolment and child records: Until your child leaves the nursery, then for a minimum of 3 years in line with EYFS requirements, or longer where required by law

  • EYFS learning records and observations: As above

 

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you or your child, request corrections, withdraw consent where consent is our lawful basis, and request deletion where we are not required by law to retain the data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@finnegansworld.co.uk.

Where we hold data about your child, these rights are exercised by the parent or guardian with parental responsibility until the child is old enough to exercise them independently.

Keeping Your Data Safe

Your data is stored securely and accessed only by trained staff for the purposes described above. We use Wix as our website and booking platform; their privacy and security practices are described at wix.com/about/privacy.
